Change the filter before it looks like felt

If the filter looks like a gray felt hat, the system is already working too hard. That is how a house stays sticky and a compressor dies in July.

Check it every 30 days in cooling season. If you have pets or a renovation, check it sooner. A cheap filter change is not a tune-up, but it is the cheapest way to stop a Saturday emergency.
